Pre School
Morning Program (2-5 years old)
Five days per week or two days per week
9:00 am -
12:00 noon
Our preschool program engages children in a broad range of activities and themes giving many hands-on experiences to build their skills. Children learn to socialize and verbalize in a fun environment with loving adults. We do not require children to be potty-trained as we have found it easier for children to do their potty learning in peer settings. For details of our day go to our Schedule and Calendar page.
Kindergarten Readiness
Afternoon Program (4-5 years old)
Tuesdays & Thursdays
12:00 noon -
3:00 pm
The Kindergarten Readiness Program is designed for preschoolers in their last year before entering Kindergarten. We work on many of the same themes done in Kindergarten yet with a developmental approach. In this way we build a bridge to Kindergarten. Math, Music and Science are prevalent in activities and learning experiences. In addition the Kindergarten Readiness Program incorporates experiences in Memory Building, Journal Keeping, Pre-Literacy Skills, Spanish Songs & Stories and the Handwriting Without Tears Program.
Science
Afternoon Program (3-5 years old)
Wednesdays
12:00 noon - 3:00 pm
This preschool program focuses completely on science themes. Each month children learn about specific properties in natural science, including astrology, biology, chemistry or physics. Themes are based on children's interests.
Young Art Explorers
Afternoon Program (2-5 years old)
Fridays
12:00 noon - 3:00 pm
As you would guess, the Young Art Explorers program is all about exploring art! This is the only afternoon program that includes a period of Nap/Quite Time (See our Schedule and Calender page for details). Children will experience the messy fun of the numerous different art mediums, including edible art!
Piano Music Lessons
*THIS CLASS IS CURRENTLY FULL*
Afternoon Program (4-7 years old)
Mondays
12:00 noon - 3:00 pm
This is a separate program offered and taught by Lorelei van Peborgh through the co-op. Children learn to play keyboard and read sheet music utilizing the Music and the Brain program. For information please contact Lorelei at her home phone (530) 546-7236.
Multi-Age Elementary School
All-day Program (5-10 years old)
Monday- Friday
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This is the modern-day version of the one-room school house. Small classroom size enables more one on one instruction, positive interactions and individualized learning at each child's own pace. Lessons are formulated around a broad theme, such as "Patterns", or "Habitats" incorporating all content areas (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Science, Computers and Art) as well as state standards ensuring a pleasurable, meaningful learning experience. Extension programs include: Music, Spanish, Physical Education and Field Trips. This is a great program for families who've considered homeschooling their children. For more information on Multi-Age education go to our Curriculum page.
